Techniquetips
- Make sure that you keep the hinge on the cap free from adhesive and Plastic primer when bonding Oyster to the tooth.
- If the cap is tough to open at first, the saliva will eventually act as a lubricant and make the opening much easier.
- When using a light cure adhesive we do recommend you to apply a "Plastic primer" on the bracket base for "safe" bonding (not necessary with SmartBond LC).
- In vitro studies have shown the cap to withstand up to 3000 grams of force before breaking (see PDF).
- In order to prevent any damage of the cap or bracket always use the special instrument "Oyster Cap Opener" when opening the cap.
- Hygiene is very important. Make sure the patient rinses thoroughly his/her mouth after eating. A water pick or similar irrigation product is recommended.
